Join our team of volunteers

No matter how much time you have, your skills, kindness and compassion can bring connection and support to those who need it most. Every contribution matters to us and those we serve.

  • “Our Charity Shop volunteers, supported by our shop managers, play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our shops. Together, they ensure smooth running and deliver exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming and positive experience for all who visit our two charity shops.”

  • “Talking Café Host volunteers will complete an induction, Level 1 Safeguarding training provided by the States of Guernsey, and our Community Connector training. Once trained, volunteers will host Talking Cafés under the supervision of the Health Connections CEO. These cafés provide a welcoming space for people to meet new friends, build social connections, and access health, care, and wellbeing information, activities, and support through the Health Connections Directory.”

  • “Our volunteer drivers, supported by our transport coordinators, provide vital transportation to people with unmet transport needs, enabling them to access opportunities for social connection, activities for health and wellbeing, as well as essential medical appointments. Mileage costs are reimbursed by HSC.”

  • “Our Office Volunteers will assist the lead transport coordinators in our main office and provide remote support to the CEO. Strong administrative, IT, and telephone skills, along with the ability to work professionally as part of a team, are essential. Additional training, including safeguarding, will be provided to ensure volunteers are fully equipped for their role.”

  • This volunteer role identifies support that individuals need by making regular check in and chats that build trust. We can ensure that they have access to:

    • someone to chat to about information or support that matters to you.

    • signposting support such as how to get transport to health and wellbeing appointments, shopping, food delivered, pet care, essential supplies.

    • up to date information from the States of Guernsey website and The Health Connections Directory.

  • “The primary objective of Friends of Health Connections (FoHC) is to raise funds to support the charity’s work. Fundraising efforts may include organising events, collecting subscriptions, securing corporate sponsorships and donations”.

Andrea ensures that all of our shop takings are recorded, reconciled and banked on a weekly basis. On top of that, she is a bookworm and keeps our shop bookshelves beautifully in order.

I started driving because I wanted to give something back. What I didn’t expect was how much I’d gain myself. Each journey feels like I’m helping my community . The conversations, the smiles, and knowing I’ve made someone’s day easier make it so worthwhile.
